Located at the intersection of Highways 36 and 55, approximately 220 km northeast of Edmonton. Lac La Biche is the regional centre for business, health care facilities, education and government services. Although the population is 3,000 within town boundaries, this increases to 6,000 during business hours due to people coming to work and school.
Lac La Biche is a part of the Northern Lights School Division, with four school campuses. Vera M. Welsh for kindergarden to Grade 3, Central Elementary for Grades 4-5, Dr. Swift Middle School for Grades 6-8, and J. A Williams High School for Grades 9-12. All offer full curriculum in English. French, Arabic and Cree are optional courses.
Lac La Biche offers many services such as a number of hotels, restaurants, banks, retail grocery and clothing stores.
The town also hosts a majority of events such as the Lac La Biche Pow Wow and Fish Derby in mid August, and National Aboriginal Day in late June. Check our Events Calendar for more Lac La Biche events!
